See the icons of Lofoten
Experience the places that made Lofoten famous. The Grand Tour of Lofoten takes you from Svolvær through some of the archipelago’s most spectacular landscapes, visiting Henningsvær, Ramberg, Reinefjorden and Å. These are the mountains, beaches, fishing villages and red rorbuer that have filled the pages of National Geographic and Lonely Planet, and probably your Instagram feed too.

From Henningsvær to Reine
We cross almost the entire length of the Lofoten Islands, with carefully chosen stops along the way. Explore the historic fishing village of Henningsvær, walk on the white sands of Ramberg, then continue south to the extraordinary scenery of Reinefjorden, including Hamnøy, Sakrisøy and Reine. The journey finishes in Å, quite literally the end of the road in Lofoten.

Time to Explore
This is more than a sightseeing drive. We build in time to get out of the vehicle, take photographs, explore and properly experience each location. There is also a longer lunch stop at Sakrisøy, surrounded by some of the most recognisable scenery in Norway. Your professional local guide will share the stories, history and culture behind the landscapes as we travel.

The ultimate guided tour of Lofoten
If you’re looking for the most complete Lofoten tour from Svolvær, the Grand Tour of Lofoten is designed to show you the very best of the islands in one unforgettable day. Travelling almost the full length of the Lofoten archipelago, we connect the famous fishing village of Henningsvær with Ramberg, Reinefjorden and Å. Along the way you’ll experience white Arctic beaches, towering mountains, traditional fishing villages and the landscapes that have made Lofoten one of Norway’s most recognisable destinations.
Rather than simply driving from one end of Lofoten to the other, we make carefully chosen stops and adapt the journey to the conditions. Weather, light and crowds can change quickly here, and local knowledge makes a huge difference. Starting and finishing in Svolvær, this is Lofoten’s greatest hits in one spectacular road trip.
A Lofoten photography tour through its most iconic landscapes
Lofoten has been photographed by National Geographic, featured by Lonely Planet and shared across millions of social media posts, but nothing quite prepares you for seeing these landscapes for yourself. The Grand Tour has photography built into the experience. You don’t need a professional camera, your phone is absolutely fine. We choose stops for their scenery and photographic potential, with your guide helping you find the viewpoints and compositions that make Lofoten so extraordinary.
From Henningsvær beneath its dramatic mountains to the white sands of Ramberg, the red rorbuer of Hamnøy and Sakrisøy, and the enormous peaks surrounding Reinefjorden, the scenery just keeps getting better. And yes, we’ll make sure you have time to actually take the photograph rather than waving at the view through the window.
Why choose the Grand Tour of Lofoten?
Lofoten is much bigger than it first appears on a map. Trying to see Henningsvær, the beaches of western Lofoten, Reinefjorden and Å independently in a single day requires a lot of driving, planning, parking and watching the clock. The Grand Tour takes care of all of that.
With a professional local guide driving, you can concentrate on the landscape rather than the road. We know where to stop, what is worth seeing and how conditions affect different parts of the islands. The itinerary includes a longer lunch stop at Sakrisøy, giving you time to enjoy one of Lofoten’s most beautiful fishing villages rather than treating it as another quick photo stop. For visitors with limited time, it is one of the easiest ways to experience the extraordinary variety of Lofoten in a single day.
From Henningsvær to Å, see the famous places of Lofoten
The Grand Tour brings together several of Lofoten’s essential destinations in one route. We visit Henningsvær, the famous fishing village surrounded by sea and mountains, before travelling west towards the spectacular beaches and landscapes around Ramberg. From there we continue into Reinefjorden, stopping at Hamnøy, Sakrisøy and Reine, three names that have become synonymous with Lofoten.
Finally, we continue south to Å, one of the best-preserved traditional fishing villages in the archipelago and the final village on the E10. It is a journey through the landscapes, fishing culture and communities that have shaped Lofoten, all the way from Svolvær to the end of the road.
Is the Grand Tour of Lofoten suitable for cruise passengers?
Yes, provided your ship’s schedule gives you enough time ashore. The Grand Tour is a full-day experience covering a considerable distance, so cruise passengers should check their arrival and departure times carefully before booking. Guests arriving in Svolvær may be able to join the scheduled departure depending on their port times.
For ships with shorter port calls, our Road Trip to Reine or Lofoten in a Nutshell may be a better fit. Private Grand Tour options can also be arranged around suitable ship arrival and departure times, giving cruise passengers greater flexibility while still experiencing as much of Lofoten as possible.
Private Grand Tour of Lofoten options
The Grand Tour of Lofoten is also available privately for guests who want the ultimate flexibility. A private tour allows us to tailor the day around you. Spend longer photographing Reinefjorden, explore Henningsvær in more depth, adjust stops according to the weather, or simply enjoy the journey at your own pace.
It is particularly well suited to couples, families, small groups and photographers who want to make the most of a single day in Lofoten. For an even more exclusive experience, the route can be arranged as a Lofoten Insight FIRST CLASS private tour, combining the spectacular Grand Tour itinerary with premium transport, personal service and maximum flexibility throughout the day.
