There’s a strange kind of silence in Lofoten at midnight in summer — not because the world is asleep, but because nature is holding its breath in golden light. Welcome to the Midnight Magic tour, where we chase the Midnight Sun through Norway’s most photogenic landscapes.

I’m Dave Williams, also known as iDaveWilliams — photographer, storyteller, and your guide here at Lofoten Insight. This tour is all about that endless, glowing light that turns our islands into a dreamscape.

What is the Midnight Magic Tour?

Midnight Magic is a photography-focused tour during the height of summer, when the sun never fully sets and golden hour stretches on for hours. We travel late into the evening and through the night, exploring hidden beaches, towering peaks, and reflective fjords bathed in warm, soft light.

It’s peaceful. It’s otherworldly. It’s the kind of light photographers chase across continents — and here, it happens every night in season.

Why Shoot at Midnight?

The Midnight Sun offers perfect light without the harshness of the day. The skies are soft. The shadows are long. The colors are rich. And best of all? Most people are sleeping — so we get Lofoten’s most iconic spots all to ourselves.

When Can You Join?

Midnight Magic runs during the Midnight Sun season, typically from May through July. This is when the sun dips close to the horizon but never disappears — a photographer’s dream.

Tours depart at 9pm and run into the early hours, giving us maximum golden light and quiet roads.
